As a 100% privately funded non-profit organization, donations help ensure the continuation of our many programs and services to children and adults with diverse abilities

In this most uncertain time, the one thing you can be certain of is we are not going anywhere. For 73 years, the Society has worked to enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities in the Central Valley. We have made a difference by offering a variety of recreational, social and educational programs. Our medical equipment loan closet is the largest in Northern California…and even during this time of illness and shutdown, we remain open and continue to lend items that some cannot live without.

Donations help kids like West who is 9 years old and has non-verbal Autism. His mom Alyssa brought him to Society for disABILITIES, in a decision to step away from “traditional” Autism therapies and allow him to just be a kid. In his time experiencing our programs, West has blossomed. In a letter Alyssa wrote “We are all forever grateful to those who gave time and money to gift West with the opportunity to live his best life. I wanted to especially thank everyone involved in the ski program because his day on the slopes with an amazing team of volunteers was West’s best day ever. From the minute he got in the ski chair his giggles were heard across the slope. His smile did not stop for days, even months later he beams with joy as he watches the video of him flying down the hill.”

The Society cannot thrive without the generous support of our community. Did you know…as part of the CARES Act, individual taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions can claim a deduction of up to $300 for gifts of cash made to public charities such as Society for disABILITIES. The deduction is for gifts of cash made in calendar year 2020 and taxpayers will claim the deduction on their 2020 income tax return filed in 2021.
